Therapeutic Apologies in Psychotherapy
December 1-2, 2022
12 CE Hours

ONLINE

Facilitated by:

Adele Lafrance, C.Psych and Natasha Files, MSW, RSW

Therapeutic Apologies are one of the most powerful interventions used in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. They can be integrated and delivered in the context of individual, couple and family-oriented therapies. This two-day training will take a deep dive into the practice of three different therapeutic apologies to heal relationship injuries (client delivers an apology to another), release self-blame (clients enacts an apology using empty chair-work to release self-blame) and transform resentment into forgiveness, even when the other party is unavailable or deceased (client expresses resentment to imagined other who engages in a specifically constructed apology to release the pain). Scripts for each of the interventions will be reviewed, followed by video demonstrations and opportunities for practice, as desired. This training meets criteria towards certification through the International Institute for EFFT.

* Prior training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy is not necessary to attend this workshop.
